Cinco de Mayo DUI Enforcement Planned Throughout Los Angeles

In Southern California, Cinco de Mayo has become a holiday many choose to celebrate by drinking alcohol. Whether you choose to celebrate the historical roots of Cinco de Mayo or simply enjoy some cerveza, margaritas, and Mexican food, law enforcement agencies across Los Angeles and surrounding communities will be on high alert for drunk drivers.

Given Cinco de Mayo's reputation and historically higher rates of drunk driving arrests and accidents, authorities will be buckling down and increasing enforcement throughout the evening and into the early morning.

Authorities from over 100 law enforcement agencies already initiated a Cinco de Mayo crackdown that resulted in more than 450 DUI arrests in Los Angeles County over the weekend, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Tonight, their plans include saturation patrols and planned checkpoints throughout the region.
