Mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs lived up to his Bad Boy label name
making national headlines when he was arrested last week for allegedly
attacking a UCLA assistant football coach. The attack allegedly occurred
when Diddy grabbed a kettleball during a heated argument over his son,
a football player at UCLA. Despite Diddy’s purported menacing action’s,
the Los Angeles District Attorney announced on June 2nd they will not
be pursing Felony charges. Did Diddy get a celebrity Mulligan? No, many
legal outsiders fail to understand that an arrest amounts to no more than
a police recommendation to the District Attorney’s Office to take
further action. The District Attorney makes the ultimate call on who gets
charged and for what crimes. When the person is a high profile celebrity
the last thing the District Attorney wants to do is lose the case while
the world is watching. Thus, when facts surfaced this week regarding the
UCLA coaches checkered past it likely sealed the District Attorney’s
decision to punt on charging Diddy. So, is Diddy completely out of hot
water? No, the Los Angeles City Attorney now gets to decide if they want
to file misdemeanor charges against the rapping Bad Boy. Either way, this
is a huge win for team Diddy who at this point in all likelihood has escaped
the possibility of trading in his Sean John suits for county blues. By
